IT Assistants - SOS Kenya

Key Functions of the Job.Maintains an efficient and effective computing environment by identifying network requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring network performance and supporting SOS Children’s Villages Kenya computer systems and Co- workers. Designs, installs and maintains LANs, WANs and Network segments.

Key performance areas and main responsibilities
  • Install and support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet and ICT systems
  • Install and maintain network hardware and software
  • Monitor networks to ensure security and availability users
  • Evaluate and modify system’s performance
  • Identify user needs
  • Determine network and systems requirements
  • Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment and security
  • Ensure network connectivity throughout the LAN/WAN infrastructure
  • Perform network address assignment
  • Assign routing protocols and routing table configuration
  • Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of Active Directory Services
  • Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers
  • Maintain network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems
  • Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches
  • Regularly update ICT Inventory
  • Design and rollout Preventive Computer Maintenance schedule to ensure computers, laptops and related devices are working effectively
  • Constantly train users on ICT Systems, Infra – Structure and ICT Policies

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Diploma in IT, Computer Science or Related Professional Field Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
  • Cyberoam Certified Network & Security Professional
  • A minimum of 3 years experience working in a busy LAN/WAN environment
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Customer service orientation and ability to work with minimum supervision
