Head of Credit Analysis - SME Banking - STANDARD CHARTERED BANK

Job Description
Responsible for management of credit risk and SME Banking portfolio in order to minimize risk of loss and maximize risk adjusted return.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
  • To analyze small and medium enterprise customers risk using credit skills, ratio analysis, and management adjustment strategy
  • To jointly structure facilities with BRMs to meet individual client needs with a view to maximizing earnings and minimizing risk and bad debts
  • Jointly accountable for credit applications  with Relationship Managers
  • To jointly tailor make innovative financial solutions for clients, to anticipate market trends and counter competitive pressures.
  • Responsible for adherence to group and local credit policy.
  • To jointly monitor credit quality with RMs and Credit Analysts by highlighting early warning signs of credit deterioration.
  • To train and motivate attached staff in order to assist meeting customer requirements an d to increase their efficiency, competence and productivity.
  • Be conversant with CRM/ORMA requirements
  • Reporting suspicious transactions
  • Monitoring and control of excesses to minimize losses
  • Track  and ensure improvement in the credit applications TAT
Qualifications & Skills
Knowledge
  • Minimum qualifications- 1st degree and/or professional qualifications such as ACCA/CIMA/C or full Bankers Diploma and full Credit Skills Assessment Program/Trade Skills Assessment Program.
  • Full Trade Skills Assessment Program.
  • A good understanding and analysis of financial statements, cash flows and their impact on business.
  • An in-depth knowledge of advanced lending techniques, group products, trade finance, investment instruments, credit rules and procedures and bank policies.
  • Good knowledge of business conditions, banking and commercial law.
Experience
  • At least three years lending experience in responsible positions Experience in credit structuring, evaluating risk, financial analysis and industry analysis
  • Strong lending, negotiation and decision making ability.
