Computer Management Assistant - CDC


Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has an opening for the position of Computer Management Assistant. Incumbent of this position will work in “When Actually Employed” (WAE) status on an as-needed basis. This position will be available immediately. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science/Information System, Mathematics/ Physical sciences is required.
  • One year work experience in providing front end IT support and working on ICT projects is required.
  • Level IV (fluent) English ability is required.
  • Must have good knowledge of Microsoft office suite in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Visio, and MS Project.

Job Specification
Under the supervision of the Computer Management Specialist (ICT Manager), ICT Projects Assistant will assist the ICT Manager in coordination and execution of designated IT project tasks as will be assigned from time to time on a part time basis. The incumbent also provides ICT technical support to CDC staff in Kisumu, troubleshooting and resolving user problems with their workstations, Microsoft Office Applications, Internet access, file and print services, automated installation services, cable and telephone connectivity. The incumbent conducts basic user training on application user such as Microsoft office suite, Citrix and the Intranet as directed by the ICT Management. 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   % OF TIME  
Operations – Provides day to day ICT technical support to CDC users on the Kisumu LAN including troubleshooting and resolving user problems with their workstations, Microsoft Office applications, Internet access, file and print services, software installation and upgrades, cable connections and telephone connectivity. Sets up newly received CDC computer equipment and installs software packages as per CDC SOPs (35%) 

Project Execution – Under guidance from the IT Advisor, Kisumu coordinates and executes designated project implementation tasks as assigned from time to time. Manages all the administrative requirements related to the assigned project tasks, coordinates meetings with the various programmatic teams involved in the project to ensure all requirements are adequately captured and ensure the timely completion of the project tasks. (35%) 

Analysis – Analyses common user problems on the LAN and recommends technical solutions and appropriate end user training to the ICT Management.  (10%) 

Training- Incumbent conducts basic user training on application use such as MS Office suite, Citrix, use of Key Fobs, mobile devices and the Intranet. (10%) 

Administration – Provides weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports of the work progress, resources used and schedules to the ICT Management as directed.    (10%)
