AWF is seeking a Conservation Enterprise Officer to provide day-to-day operational support to enterprise activities across AWF landscapes. This role will also entail monitoring enterprise activities and organizing events with and for partners.
AWF Conservation Enterprise activities are mainly in areas of agriculture, livestock, tourism, energy and financial access. The successful applicant must demonstrate the experience, knowledge and understanding that combines private sector practices with not for profit business aspirations.This position will report to the Program Manager, Conservation Enterprise and will be based in AWF's Headquarter Officer in Nairobi, Kenya with regular travel to the project sites.
Responsibilities
- Organise, lead and or participate in meetings with communities, private sector partners and government departments.
- Monitor progress of projects being implemented and identify gaps and challenges that need to be addressed.
- Collect information necessary to inform design of enterprise projects and general enterprise decision making.
- Follow up on implementation of contracts by consultants and other partners involved in conservation enterprise activities.
- Collect and or support data collection, analysis and reporting of all enterprise activities.
- Arrange workshops, conferences and other meetings organised by the conservation enterprise team, other departments in AWF and partners.
- Contribute to review of reports and workplans from partners, consultants and other stakeholders.
- Compile reports for enterprise activities and/or contribute information on enterprise projects for donors/other stakeholders
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
- A Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university in Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Agribusiness or any other relevant and related field.
- A relevant professional qualification is an added advantage.
- 3+ years of consistent excellent professional track record– ability to report tangible achievements either led or substantially contributed to.
- Excellent working knowledge of core principles of project management and entrepreneurial acumen.
- A passion for nature and conservation.
- Some international professional experience would be preferred.
- Agriculture/Agribusiness experience is an added advantage.
- Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills including demonstrable cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Humble but authoritative.
- Entrepreneurial but structured.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and spoken Kiswahili required.
- Fluency in French desirable.
